Ethylene compressor

Product Description:

1. Product Overview: Ethylene compressor is one of the core equipments in modern large-scale ethylene production plant, and it is often called "ethylene three engines" together with cracking gas compressor and propylene compressor, and is known as the "heart" of the plant. Its main function is to pressurize the low-temperature gaseous ethylene medium in the cryogenic separation process to provide power for the refrigeration cycle of the whole ethylene plant or the subsequent product yu.


2, performance characteristics:

Because of the particularity of the medium and process it handles, ethylene compressor has several very distinctive and harsh performance characteristics:

Ultra-low temperature operation: the temperature of ethylene gas it processes is extremely low, usually below -100℃. This requires that the compressor, from the shell, impeller to all internal components, must adopt special low-temperature materials, and can withstand severe low-temperature tests in design, manufacture and welding process to prevent cold brittleness.

Extremely high reliability and long-term operation: As the core equipment with single series and no standby machine, it must be able to meet the requirement of continuous operation for 3 to 5 years or even longer. Any unexpected shutdown will lead to the shutdown of the whole ton ethylene plant, resulting in huge economic losses.

Absolute strict sealing: ethylene is a flammable and high-value medium, and it is absolutely not allowed to leak. Modern large-scale ethylene compressors generally adopt advanced dry gas sealing system to realize zero leakage of medium and ensure safety, environmental protection and zero loss of materials.

High energy efficiency and intelligence: the compressor is a big energy consumer in the device, and its efficiency is directly related to the production cost. The current development trend is to adopt all-electric drive frequency conversion technology, and accurately adjust the speed and load through intelligent control system to achieve excellent energy efficiency.

Highly technology-intensive: an ethylene compressor integrates advanced aerothermodynamic design, precision cryogenic machinery manufacturing, rotor dynamics analysis and highly reliable control system, and is a typical representative of high-end equipment manufacturing industry with very high technical barriers.


3. Scope of application:

Large ethylene production plant

This is its main and classic application scenario. All large-scale ethylene plants using cryogenic separation technology (from 600,000 tons/year to 1.8 million tons/year, or even larger) must be equipped with ethylene compressors to establish and maintain the refrigeration cycle in the cryogenic area.

Key downstream: production of new materials such as high performance polyethylene (h-poe).

In the production of polyethylene, it is necessary to compress ethylene to a very high pressure as the raw material for polymerization. Especially when producing high-performance metallocene polyethylene and other high-end brands, there are strict requirements on the pressure and purity of ethylene raw materials, which depends on the high performance of the compressor.

Special field: ultra-high pressure experiment and gas treatment

In the field of scientific research, national defense or special gas, it is necessary to compress ethylene to extremely high pressure (such as hundreds of MPa) for filling or circulation. At this time, the diaphragm ethylene compressor suitable for small flow and ultra-high pressure becomes the choice.
